A series of devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria recently has claimed over 35,000 lives and caused extensive damage. To prevent such disasters, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has published the National Building Code of India, which is a comprehensive Building Code providing guidelines for regulating building construction activities across the country.
