As you are well aware, Turkey and Northern Syria have recently experienced a string of powerful earthquakes that have resulted in the deaths of more than 45,000 people as well as immeasurable property damage. The entire country is in shock and grief as a result of this unfathomable catastrophe. In light of this Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IAStructE) is organizing a Panel Discussion on "Turkey Earthquake -Lessons for India" on Tuesday, 07 March 2023 from 04.00 PM to 06:00 PM (IST). The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. Alp Caner of METU, Turkey. The lecture will be followed by a Panel Discussion where some of the renowned structural engineering professionals, both from the industry and academia, will discuss what would happen and how to alleviate the situation if a comparable earthquake occurred in the densely populated country India.
