The session, to be delivered by Mr. Saibaba Ankala, will explore the engineering and seismic design challenges associated with the iconic Noney Railway Bridge, a key component of the 111-km Jiribam–Imphal railway project. The project is expected to reduce travel time between Jiribam and Imphal from more than 10 hours by road to less than 2 hours by rail, significantly enhancing regional connectivity, economic growth, tourism, and strategic transportation links, including the proposed Trans-Asian Rail Network. A major highlight of the webinar will be the discussion on the bridge’s world-record railway pier standing 141 metres high, designed and constructed with advanced seismic safety measures to ensure resilience in a seismically active region.
