Earthquake Safety of Structures and Connections, including Strengthening & Retrofitting Applications

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP :

A technical workshop on “Earthquake Safety of Structures and Connections, including Strengthening & Retrofitting Applications.”
The workshop was conducted for M.Tech and PhD students from the Department of Civil Engineering as part of an ongoing academia–industry collaboration.
The sessions covered a wide spectrum from the fundamentals of structural strengthening and retrofitting to code-compliant design of post-installed connections for safer and more resilient structures. Post-installed systems form an integral part of structural connections, whether Concrete-to-Concrete or Steel-to-Concrete. We also discussed new shear strengthening solutions for shear-deficient concrete members using post-installed shear reinforcement systems. In the second half, we conducted two highly engaging sessions: A design demonstration using PROFIS Engineering software, and A hands-on workshop where students practiced the installation of post-installed anchors.
The session was enriched further to have Dr Premanand Shenoy from ROY & Shenoy - India, an eminent figure in the industry, whose insightful lecture added tremendous value and elevated the overall learning experience.
