Proposed IS: 1893, 2025 towards Advancement of Earthquake Engineering & Seismic Retrofit

The seminar aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the proposed IS 1893:2025 based on advancement in earthquake-resistant design, Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, seismic retrofit and structural control. The advancement in earthquake engineering with evolving principles of seismic hazard assessment, structural response, dynamic analysis, ductile detailing, and other approaches incorporated in the proposed standard. Seismic evaluation and strengthening of existing and vulnerable structures, recognizing the increasing need to reduce seismic risk in ageing infrastructure and improvement of structural resilience will be attempted. The seminar further aims to bridge the gap between code provisions, contemporary research, and engineering practice by facilitating interaction among academicians, researchers, structural engineers, consultants, and practicing professionals. It will provide a platform to deliberate on technical implications, practical challenges, and opportunities arising from the proposed revisions, including their application to structural design, assessment, and seismic retrofit.
